Tripp Lite’s APS Inverter/Chargers Keep Habitat for Humanity Uganda’s Computer Systems Constantly Powered Through Frequent Utility Outages

Tripp Lite, a world leader in the manufacture of power protection equipment, has earned the praise of Habitat for Humanity Uganda, which relies on Tripp Lite's APS Inverter/Chargers to keep their computer systems constantly powered and productive through frequent utility outages.

“Prior to using Tripp Lite's APS Inverter/Chargers, our computer systems would be at the mercy of the local utility service,” said Matthew Robertson, Habitat for Humanity Uganda's National Director. “Frequent outages would cut power to our office for up to 6 hours, idling our staff and costing us an entire day's worth of work. Now that we have APS Inverter/Chargers backing up our servers and personal computers, the frequent outages don't bother us at all. Tripp Lite's APS Inverter/Chargers are excellent because the protection and support are seamless. We don't even know when the power is out. We simply continue to work without interruption.”

Without reliable power, Habitat for Humanity Uganda cannot perform its vital work. “We need to maintain constant communication with our donors, partners and teams located throughout Uganda and other countries regionally and internationally,” said Mr. Robertson. Since 1982, Habitat for Humanity Uganda, a non-profit ecumenical Christian ministry, has constructed over 4,000 new houses for people in need to purchase through the use of no-interest loans.

Tripp Lite offers a complete line of APS Inverter/Chargers to provide reliable power for a variety of applications. APS Inverter/Chargers are connected between utility power and the equipment they protect. When utility power is normal, APS Inverter/Chargers pass through power to connected equipment. In addition, they continually charge external, user-supplied batteries. When utility power is abnormal (if the voltage is too high, too low or is cut off altogether during an outage), APS Inverter/Chargers automatically switch to converting the DC power of user-supplied batteries into computer-grade AC power for connected equipment.

The length of battery support APS Inverter/Chargers will supply is only limited by the amount of user-supplied batteries that are connected. Habitat for Humanity Uganda's application utilizes a Tripp Lite APSINT2424 Inverter/Charger (with a 2400 watt output capacity) along with four user-supplied 200-amp-hour batteries. With this battery system, the APSINT2424 supports and protects desktop PCs and servers along with lighting and miscellaneous office equipment for up to 8 hours.
